Mystery Science Theater 3000: TERROR FROM THE YEAR 5000
July 12, 2017 9:33 PM - Season 8, Episode 7 - Subscribe

"From time unborn... a hideous she-thing!" Guy invents a machine that can send things to and from the future. One of the things that comes is a winsome young future girl who seeks a mate to save future humanity. Sounds good, right? Ha ha no it's a horrible radioactive hellscape and she wears a leotard with sparkly bits on it and kills people and must be stopped. At the end they wonder if they should have helped the future folk after all, and conclude they can do that by avoiding the nuclear apocalypse that created the bad future. Yeah, I'm sure that will happen. It's the last full episode on Observer World, and it's the last Observer-takeover stinger. Mike and the bots get up to some time travel adventures themselves. YouTube (1h32m) - Promo Premiered March 15, 1997.

Satellite News - Mighty Jack's Episode Review - War of the Colossal Fan Guide - TVTropes

Kevin Murphy recollects the making of this episode in its entry of the Amazing Colossal Episode Guide. He writes:
I really like the Observers a lot. How often do you get to write for characters who talk like Jeremy Irons, sing like the Ink Spots and carry their brains, unguarded and vulnerable, in bowls? One of my heroes, Arthur C. Clarke, has often contended that a culture of sufficiently advanced technology would seem to us indistinguishable from magic. If this is true, then perhaps Galileo, upon seeing our modern age, would think of us all as wizards. The only thing Mr. Clarke doesn't take into account is how incredibly stupid any creature might be, no matter how advanced. We try in our own humble way to offer this alternate perspective. I hope some day that Mr. Clarke might watch our little puppet show, have a good laugh and perhaps, quoting Puck, cry "Shall we their fond pageant see? / Lord what fools these mortals be!"
Hell, who am I kidding?

In our MST Club showings, we've come to the end of Season 11 of Mystery Science Theater 3000. You could view this as a preview, an echo of the upcoming end of the Classic series, which is still months off, but not as many as it was when we started, and is no longer years off.

This is our last showing, barring unforeseen circumstances, to be held at https://www.rabb.it/rodneylives, not a bad site overall (especially since it allows us to share a Netflix stream fairly easily, which I didn't think was possible when we started), but ultimately slower, laggier, less playlist friendly, and marginally less compatible than the site we'd used up until then. Next week we're going back to our old channel, https://cytu.be/r/Metafilter_MST3KClub. We still have the rabb.it room if we need it, and it's terrific to be able to share Netflix with it which brings up some interesting possibilities when we reach the Christmas marathon.

It's also the last showing to officially begin at 7 PM Eastern/4 PM Pacific, which I recognize wasn't an ideal time for West Cost viewers. The original plan was to do another show at a better time on Saturdays, but... well, it's been a weird few months for me. I've been focusing on researching and writing books in an effort to not be destitute quite so much. Unfortunately I need time and energy to work on those paying projects, and so, unfortunately, the Saturday showings fell by the wayside.

Here is the schedule for the today (Thursday, July 13), all times Eastern/Pacific:
7/4 PM: 1114 AT THE EARTH'S CORE
8:30/5:30 PM: YouTube Potluck Intermission
9/6 PM: 804 TERROR FROM THE YEAR 5000
10:30/7:30: Further YouTube Potluck until I'm called away or we get tired of it

I hope you'll join us, and thanks for using MST Club for all your sarcasm needs!

Alas, I've got a murder mystery dinner cruise to work tonight, so I won't be able to make it. Bummer, dude.
