Mystery Science Theater 3000: THE KILLER SHREWS, with short JUNIOR RODEO DAREDEVILS
November 19, 2015 5:49 AM - Season 4, Episode 7 - Subscribe

"They had to eat 3 times their body weight each day... or starve!" Some people are trapped on an island with friendly dogs poisonous shrews. Not a high point in the annals of cinema. With short Junior Rodeo Daredevils: To stop kids from bothering his horses, Old Timer Billy Slater arranges an incredibly dangerous competition for the local youth. The looping music in the short is like the soundtrack to the Ozark region of Hell. The dogs' killer shrew getup in the movie is particularly laughable. Yes, they have officially announced the MST3K Turkey Day '15 Marathon for next Thursday (obviously) at Noon Eastern, 9AM Pacific time, to be accessible (but not yet) at the site, Yahoo TV and the Pluto TV app, channel 428 (on mobile devices for you stuck with relatives away from your home media center). The turkeys featured will not be pre-announced.

And lots happening with the BringBackMST3K Kickstarter (that which shall not be named on MeFi's Front Page): Joel has announced the identity of the new 'host' (a.k.a. guy stuck up on the Satellite of Love with the bots): Nerdist Podcaster and experienced funnywriter Jonah Ray, who will take on the character name "Jonah Heston" (relation to Charlton? you'll pry the answer to that out of his cold, dead hands). He does already have his own GIZMONICS INSTITUTE jumpsuit (in yellow). It must also be noted that the revised image at the top of the Kickstarter page showing Jonah also has the silhouette of "the Next Mad" which is shorter than Jonah and has long hair, suggesting the possibility of a "Ms. Mad" and speculation is going wild, much of it centered on geek icon Felicia Day. We'll chat more of that at the Club meeting tonight.

And finally, after reaching the initial $2MILLION goal to get some episodes made, Joel is doubling-down in the passive-aggressive way he's so good at, warning contributors and maybe-contributors that if they don't reach the Final Goal of $5.5MILLION for 12 episodes, he'd be a lot less likely to get SOME NETWORK to back it for an ongoing series. Another topic for the chat tonight.
