Mystery Science Theater 3000: THE REBEL SET
March 3, 2016 11:50 AM - Season 4, Episode 19 - Subscribe
"B-GUYS! (The beardnicks) Living and Loving for strange kicks! JET DOLLS! Ready and willing to go into orbit! KING OF BEATSVILLE! Master mind behind a million dollars worth of murder! THE 'WEIRDIES'! Nobody knows what makes them tick!" Man, dig that ridiculous ad copy! In this beatsploitation movie, the Chief from Get Smart is "Mr. T," and he masterminds an armored car robbery. With short Johnny at the Fair: a four-year-old boy wanders the Worlds Fair grounds randomly, having adventures, meeting stage stars and Joe Louis, running up future therapy bills. The short has Olsen and Johnson, the "Hellzapoppin' boys." They had a stage show that got turned into a movie, Hellzapoppin'. It's pretty crazy! BTW, despite the guys' comments, Merritt Stone is actually nowhere in this movie. YouTube (1h32m) - Hulu - Shout Factory
Satellite News notes that little Johnny is now an artist in Toronto, his name is Charles Pachter, and he has a website. They also note that, despite the host segments, Merritt Stone is not to be found in this movie.
I love the ad copy for the movie. "The BIG JOLT from BEATSVILLE! Free-living world of the over-teens!" Those would be the kids from Village of the Giants, right?

We had 4 episodes of MST3K taped from the TV when I was growing up, and this was one of them. The other 3 were Manos: the Hands of Fate, The Day the Earth Froze, and Hercules Unchained.
"Whaddaya want, I'm a character actor!" is absolutely a part of my repertoire, as my wife can attest.

The Merritt Stone thing is a reminder that these were made in the pre-Internet era.

We're running Immortel (ad vitam) as a pre-roll. Starting at 6:30-ish. Or, more apt, 6:30 freak-ish. Rod said I could because tomorrow is my birthday.
