What is your unavailable for streaming wishlist for FF?
While there's no rule against posting movies on FF that aren't available streaming, generally speaking, most of us usually try to avoid it. With that in mind, what are movies you'd love to discuss on FF that aren't currently streaming anywhere? [more inside]
What books haven't you been posting?
I know there's an Amazon bug (or something), and they're working on it. But in the meanwhile, there's a Fanfare books DESERT out there! So: what haven't you been posting lately?
Anyone for the Old Kingdom series?
Is anyone interested in reading and threading through the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix?
The series is available in paper, electronic and audible/audio book. Very well represented in public library systems and alternate distribution networks. [more inside]
Revival
I just posted an Event for Titan A.E. in the Holiday Movie Club (Friday, Nov 23). Since it was talked about here first, I thought I might cross post the event; but seems things have gone dormant. Any interesting in re-starting this parade? [more inside]
MyFanfare - Only TV Shows?
Why is it I can only add TV shows to "My Fanfare"? I want to add movies, special events, etc, so I can continue to follow those conversations, the same way I do for TV shows. [more inside]
Proposed formatting change: [Movie Title] (Year)
I was wondering if it's feasible, or supported, to add (Year) after movie titles in the main FanFare view? Years are added to the movie-specific page, so I figured it was a design choice. [more inside]
What have you been reading/watching/anticipating/etc.? (Oct. 2017)
So much is coming out in film, TV, streaming services, and books (including SF/F/H, mystery, romance, general fiction, and non-fiction) in October, 2017! What are you excited about, and more generally, what media have you been reading, watching, or listening to? As an experiment in the possibilities for FanFare Talk, this is an open thread for sharing recommendations and building interest in film, TV, books, and podcasts--new and old options equally welcome.
Discussing story heavy games?
I just finished Night in the Woods, which is a story heavy interactive fiction game (blue thread here). I know that Fanfare doesn't have a game category, but what are the chances we could have a discussion for it here?
Trial book?
In a recent conversation here on fanfare talk, PB said there is openness to experimenting with some different uses of fanfare, including some books. Looks like the Hannibal Rising book discussion was successful, with a lot of in-depth discussion. So.... [more inside]
Announcement: Animation Celebration
Just realized many of my favorite recent animated films are not on FanFare - hence the Animation Celebration club! [more inside]
Books and/or games?
I'm pretty sure that discussions of books, at least, were in the vague long-term plans for FanFare, and I was just curious if there are any updates on that from the mods. [more inside]
Smaller Suggestions
There are two small additions, which should make the FanFare homepage even more usable:
- add "(x new)" next to the comments under "My FanFare" in the sidebar; I have this information on the My FanFare page itself but it's "hard" to get there, also if you don't have a ton of shows fanfa(vo)red the sidebar is more than enough
- a short link to the show's page somewhere in the homepage or My FanFare lists for each entry (perhaps in the small timestamp and user-footer for each post)
Thank you for your consideration!
FanFare Twitter Account?
Other sections of MetaFilter have their own official Twitter Accounts - shouldn't FanFare have its own, too? [more inside]
FanFare threads are starting to close
Back when FanFare was launched, pb said: "right now the code is set to close the threads in a year." That year's up and early FanFare posts are starting to close: could they not? [more inside]
Welcome to FanFare Clubs
Welcome, this is the first club talk post in the first club. [more inside]
FanFare tag line
Up top: "TV worth talking about". Seems outdated now that the scope of FanFare has expanded, twice, beyond TV.
Suggestions for a better tagline?
Tags in FanFare
I've been thinking about tags on FanFare posts, and if there was any general concurrence on what people like to use and see. Broadly, I've seen tags being the individual actors, themes, and some use for character names. What do people like?
Synchronized viewings - more notice and an alert?
Is there any way we could have an alert option for FanFare posts when synchronized viewings are proposed, if this becomes a thing? [more inside]
Jeopardy?
Does anyone else here watch Jeopardy religiously? [more inside]
