Re-rewatch! A giant turtle terrorizes Japan while a sad little kid is told he can't keep his pet turtle. Their paths cross, and now the military tries to save Japan from kaiju destruction while the kid helps as a kind of giant turtle expert. It's pretty ridiculous, but it's only the beginning of a series of Gamera movies. MST would eventually do five of them, and they're some of the show's most iconic episodes. Previously

Our Sunday shows (at https://cytu.be/r/Metafilter_MST3KClub) are decreasing in length. They're still starting at 7 PM (Eastern time, that's 4 Pacific), but we're cutting down to an episode of MST and one side movie. There'll still be more random things "unofficially" afterward, but this should help people who can't stay so late because of work the next day.

Realized during the movie: young Kenny befriending the kaiju Gamera is rather like a 10-year-old boy anthropomorphizing the Coronavirus, then getting invited to all the high-level doctor meetings trying to figure out how to stop it, claiming to them the virus doesn't mean to kill people and so shouldn't be obliterated.
