Ivar and Harald return to return to England, but not before setting a plan in motion. King Alfred begins defense with strong offense against them. Ingrid practices some traditional pharmacology. The escapees from Iceland continue on.

Oleg does some religion in Kiev while Igor has his own homecoming and opens up to Ivar. Harald is an ass on his way to coronation, Erik executes a lowhanded plan. Ubbe starting to accept that Iceland be crazy.

Ivar develops feelings of jealousy towards Hvitserk. Hvitserk Hvitserks (or does he?). Gunnhild and Ingrid square off. Harald does a "how do you like me now." There's a Fat Jesus analogue thrown in for some reason.

The Rus return to Kiev, Oleg Olegs before spinning further plans. The wheels of succession start to turn in Kattegat (and Iceland [and Kiev]). Hvitserk begins a relationship with a potential BFF. Ivar is put in a difficult situation.

Bjorn faces a difficult decision. Ubbe and Torvi leave Kattegat, in search of new lands and perhaps old friends. Oleg's plans for the invasion of Scandinavia are taking shape, and King Harald is baffled by the origin of a mysterious raiding party.

As Ragnar and Floki remain at odds in Kattegat, Rollo makes great efforts in Paris to win over his new bride, Princess Gisla. Planning for the attack on Paris is underway, and Aethelstan meets Ragnar's original source of information concerning the lands to the West. In Wessex, Lady Judith gives birth to a son named Alfred, whom King Ecbert believes may have special importance. Meanwhile, Aethelstan has a religious experience and declares himself a born again Christian, which leads to problems among the rest of the viking community, particularly Floki.

The Vikings return from England to discover a surprising death and news of the visit by the Wanderer. Lagertha learns of her usurpation by Kalf and demands Ragnar take action to remove the traitor from her place of power. Back in Wessex, Aethelwulf discovers his wife has been unfaithful, while King Ecbert puts yet another plan into motion concerning the Viking settlement.

Ragnar and his warriors return to King Ecbert's court with the Princess Kwenthrith and her brother, leaving one battlefield for another. Ecbert requests both Athelstan and Lagertha to remain in Wessex, while Ragnar sets his eyes for home. Back in Kattegat, the Wanderer and Queen Aslaug increasingly spend more time togther, while Siggy watches with growing disapproval.
